A Fairy, Found

I found a fairy today…

I held her in my hands,

straight from the sky.

We had a lovely conversation,

this fairy and I.

We talked about rainbows

and crunchy fall leaves.

We talked about snowflakes

and what blooms in the spring.

We talked about rays

from the hot, summer sun.

And light setting on mountains

when daytime is done.

We talked about fireflies

blinking at dusk.

We talked of how fairies

make clothes from corn husks.

We talked of the stars twinkling brightly at night

and rippling ponds that reflect the moon’s light.

She explained the excitement

of flying with wings.

We talked of all this

and so many things.
